Housing density is expected to have an important impact on tuberculosis transmission which predominantly occurs indoors. It is expected to be an even stronger factor in cold climates, and as a result of increased transmission and higher prevalence of infection, the incidence of tuberculosis will be accordingly larger.

Poverty which forces higher housing density palys does an important role in the epidemiology of tuberculosis.
