A large trial by The Union compared an 8-month regimen (using ethambutol as the companion drug to isoniazid throughout) against the most efficacious 6-month regimen. As expected, efficacy during chemotherapy was superior in the 6-month regimen (3% failures) compared to the 8-month regimen (5% failures).
