This patient with a very early stage of pulmonary tuberculosis had no respiratory symptoms. She had loss of appetite and fatigue as the only symptoms. A bacteriologic examination of sputum smears was not even possible as there were not respiratory tract symptoms and no sputum could be produced despite considerable efforts to obtain a specimen.
