Streptomycin was isolated from Streptomyces griseus by the group working with Selman Waksman. It was the first antibiotic for which activity against M. tuberculosis was published, albeit it was accorded only a single line in a table in the first publication mentioning it. There was no menitioning it in the text of the paper.
