We are now proceeding to the descriptive epidemiology of tuberculosis. This segment of the presentation will describe the magnitude of the problem in different populations and population segments.

In contrast to etiologic epidemiology, descriptive epidemiology is not concerned about pre-existing tuberculous infection. It simply describes populations or population segments which have an increased risk of tuberculosis. It is thus not concerned with risk factors, but risk groups.
